“BICITAXI” TOUR AT CENTRO HISTORICO.

The city’s historic center is a must, and the best way to travel around it is by bicitaxi, sit and relax while you are driven trough the highlights, the wonderful buildings beholding Mexico’s past and its streets filled with present life. From a button to high tech gadgets, Santa muerte altars, typical food, down town has it all.
 
Vip tip: make sure to arrange the price before hopping on, feel free to bargain. (Average price $100 to $150 pesos/hour).

 
 
DULCERIA CELAYA. (CELAYA SWEET SHOP)

 

 

 

Founded in 1874 right at the Herat of the historic center, Dulceria Celaya offers a Wide variety of typical sweets from different regions of the country, all home made. Enjoy the wonderful “camotes” from Puebla, or the coconut sweets from the costal status.

“ROSARIO CRUZ” LIBRARY AT CONDESA
 
From the most important publishing house in México, this library in a refurbished art-deco building is a World in it self, home to a great deal of local cultural life, you can find books for children or the most complex scientific dissertations. If knowledge is a door opener, this place is the key to Mexico City. A MUST for literature lovers.

BICIRUTA.

 

 
Every Sunday “Reforma Avenue”, one of the most important in the city, closes for vehicle circulation letting way to bicycles. The Biciruta is a great and healthy way to visit some of the most iconic areas of the city, a local’s favorite!

VIP TIP: An ID is enough to get a bike from of the government stands at Reforma or Polanco, be sure to get there early to avoid missing this great opportunity.
 
 
 
LIBRO “FEDERICO RIGOLETTI EN PUNTARENA Y MARENTINO”.

One of Mexico’s most successful restaurant owners published his first recipe book, a “tasty” book with a hint of art and great design. Recipes are written in a simple yet detailed manner, with TIP for professional and non-professional cooks. An almost eatable photography by Adam Wiseman will encourage even the most skeptical.

LA HAMACA Y EL REBOSO.

 


 

This wonderful store from local designers is a merger of indigenous wisdom and prêt a porter, “trendy” gadgets and clothing filled with color and tradition. Just fantastic!

LUCHAS EN ARENA MEXICO.
 
Tuesdays and Fridays are “Luchas” days; hundreds gather at the “Arena México” to cheer their favorite wrestlers, this is the home of Mexican legend “El Santo” and many more. A great afternoon for folklore lovers!
 
Cameras at not allowed. Dress casual and avoid carrying valuables. It is better to ask the hotel to arrange transportation in and out.

“LA MASCOTA” CANTEEN.
 
At the heart of the Historic Center it’s a great spot to live the “Cantina” experience in a family environment. Let the musicians treat you to a “corrido” or a “ranchera” while trying some tequila or Mezcal. (Sundays is seafood buffet)

EL BAZAR DEL SABADO EN SAN ANGEL. (Saturday bazar at San Angel)
