ARE WE SAFE?
Are we safe?
Pros and Cons of Corporate Health Insurance.

I used to think insurance was a thing of the past, something suitable only for old people with high risk of health problems. As years pass I have heard of many cases where an accident or a sudden disease has seriously damage a life worth of savings and the family wealth.
Every year in Mexico around 2 million families loose their patrimony on health bills and unexpected diseases. According to the Mexican associations of Insurance Institutions only 7% of Mexicans have life insurance, 5% full medical insurance and 4% of local housing is insured.
Insurance, now I know, is important in many areas of our lives, but medical insurance is a MOST, everything else can be solved if you are feeling healthy and strong. Mexicans, and probable most human beings, are used to facing challenges but avoiding the risk of huge medical bills might guarantee the well being of your family.
In all my years as a head hunter hiring executives, negotiation and compensation is always THE important part. Most executives will try to improve the economic offer to increase his income. Why are we not as strong minded in protecting what we have already built?
Out of the 5% of Mexicans with health insurance only 2.4% was privately hired, the rest are corporate policies. Are we well protected with a corporate policy? Lilia Hernandez, HR VP at MetLife Mexico and Juan Carlos Zacarías CEO at “Vision Financiera” say NO! “Corporate policies are pretty Basic and although they will take care of some contingencies they are not as complete and safe as a policy made “To fit””, said Hernandez.
In a recent survey many said they did not trust the insurance companies´s “small letters”, and where uncertain about things like previous conditions, hereditary disease or others that might be used to avoid insurance payments. Many companies (Goggle them) are dedicated to Asses different companies, compare and finally offer their clients the best choice for them.
Finally looking at the numbers and adding two plus two, it seams to me that the insurance market can be pretty interesting for an executive looking to “fly solo”, Start his own company and be his own boss. According to experts “If you have the ability to communicate and are a trust worthy ethical person most insurance promoters will offer you the chance to start your own business as insurance salesman to lately become independent”
A business opportunity, which doesn’t demand spending all your savings and might award you from the very first day, seems like an opportunity that shouldn’t go to waste.
