CUATRO CIENEGAS, NATURE´S SECRET

A million years old paradise between sea and earth, gave birth to the valley of Cuatrociénegas; mother earth´s best kept secret.

Located to the north of México and 82 km from Monclova, Coahuila, you will find a magical destination where you will be able to contemplate the fusion and blend between the sky and landscape. Sea sparks of turquoise colour, twinkle from the bottom of its core, where it has been protected by the Eastern Sierra Madre Mountains for millions of years. 

Pools of water, underground rivers, springs, lakes and swamps protect the local food chain, which appears to be as old as 550 million years, comprising of 70 species of unique flora and fauna. 

This sacred land was declared a protected area in 1994 for its evolutionary complexity, a crucially important moist soil for the ecosystem, which is why it was compared to the Galápagos Islands and observed and analysed by NASA as to understand the evolution of the Earth and to make studies regarding the possibility of life in Mars. 

Cuatrociénegas weather is ideal throughout the year, making it the perfect destination for performing several activities. Amongst them you can stroll by the plaster YESO-lime CAL dunes, mountain bike or scuba dive and snorkel in either of this pools. 

With an area of 84,347 hectares, Cuatrociénegas valley has fine, white soil rich in plaster YESO-lime CAL due to the mountainous river basin which surrounds it. 

To reach Cuatrociénegas, take highway 30 from Monclava to San Pedro de las Colonias. The pools, springs and dunes area start 8km before arriving to Cuatrociénegas, marked by the information centre of The Poza Azul.
